Taking a Blog Break

2 comments:

  1. Hey this Greg, from the COB&ON blog (at which you left a comment a couple months ago). I hope you see this at some point; I'm not sure of another way to contact you. To answer your questions, the cottage is a little less than 150 square feet (it's 10X15 at it's longest dimensions, but the corners are rounded). I am not living in it, but it is being lived in - by the gardener on the land. It functions for her as a space to sleep, relax, and store her things. She has access to a community bathroom and kitchen, which is why the cottage has neither. The whole project cost about $1,100 (although the labor was free, and most materials were donated or salvaged). This project represents the most satisfying venture of my life, and I anxiously await the start of another project this year. It's great to hear that you are planning on building with cob! 10X12 is a fine size. I've realized that having such thick walls allows a smaller space to function like a much bigger space, because you can carve into the walls. Mud is amazing. I'd love to see photos of what you're up to in Arizona. If you ever feel like contacting me, my e-mail address is gjallen2@gmail.com.

  2. Thanks for the info-I've had some personal...challenges but still plan to do the cob house. I think it will be therapeutic. ~Judy
